About Estate Cleanouts

Leaving a Home of Many Years Is Never Just a Move

Your parent may have lived in this home for decades. It holds family holidays, children’s heights marked on a door frame and a lifetime of belongings. So when it’s time to move, whether for safety, health or to be closer to family, it’s rarely just about boxes. It’s emotional for them, and for you. Most families also don’t know where to start. There are rooms to sort, decisions to make about what to keep, and a deadline that doesn’t wait. If you live far away, it’s harder still.

“The hardest part isn’t the packing. It’s deciding what to do with a lifetime of things.”

Marcos Orozco

this is where we help you

That’s where senior transition services help. We work with your parent and your family to sort through belongings, decide what to keep, sell or donate, and plan the move. We follow your parent’s lead, and we keep you informed along the way. Whether you’re looking for downsizing help for a parent or support for the whole move, you don’t have to do it alone.

Signs it may be time for a senior transition

Safety concerns

Stairs, slippery floors, clutter or a home that’s hard to get around in can make daily life riskier. If your parent has had falls or close calls, it may be time to think about a safer place.

The house is too large

A big home takes a lot of upkeep, from cleaning to yard work to repairs. When it’s more than your parent can manage, a smaller home can be easier and less stressful.

A change in health

A new health condition or a decline in energy can make living alone harder. A move closer to care or to a community with support can help, and planning early gives your family more choices.

Family lives far away

When children and grandchildren are in another city or state, a parent may feel isolated, and it’s hard for the family to help. Moving closer can make it easier to stay connected.

How We Support the Move

Every move is different, so we help with the parts your family needs. Here is what we can take on:

Sorting

We go through the home room by room with your parent, so each item gets a decision: keep, sell, donate or let go. We go at your parent’s pace and respect what matters to them.

Downsizing

We help your parent choose what fits the new space, such as furniture, clothes and keepsakes, so the move is easier and the new home isn’t crowded.

Packing coordination

We coordinate the packing and the movers, so everything is ready on moving day and nothing is forgotten.

Selling or donating items

Items your parent won’t take can be sold in an estate sale or donated to people who can use them.

Setting up the new space

We help set up the new home, such as arranging furniture and unpacking the essentials, so it feels familiar from the first day.

A Process Built Around Your Family

Families should feel informed and in control throughout. This is what you can expect from us.

Regular updates

We keep you updated as the work moves forward, so you know what’s done and what’s next, even if you live far away.

One contact person

You have one person to call or message with questions, so you don’t need to repeat yourself to different people.

No pressure

You and your parent decide what happens and when. We offer advice and options, and you make the final call.

The a-z program

Once the Move Is Done, What About the House?

After your parent has moved, the family home still needs to be cleared, prepared and sold. Our A-Z Home Transition Program covers the next steps, from selling the contents to preparing the home and listing it, so you work with one team for all of it.

Your Senior Transition Roadmap

Plan

We start with a conversation about your parent’s needs, the new home, the timeline and what matters most to your family. Then we set up a simple plan so everyone knows what comes next.

01

Sort

We go through the home room by room with your parent, deciding what to keep, sell, donate or let go. We work at a comfortable pace, so no one feels rushed.

02

Sell or donate

Items that won’t make the move are sold, for example through an estate sale, or donated. Anything that can’t be used is disposed of.

03

Move

We coordinate the packing and the movers so the move day runs smoothly, with a clear plan for what goes where.

04

Settle in

We help set up the new space so it feels familiar, with furniture placed and the essentials unpacked.

04

Size of the home

A larger home with more rooms takes more time to sort and plan.

Amount of belongings

A lot of items means more decisions, and more time to sell, donate or dispose of them.

Level of support

Help with sorting only costs less than help with the whole move, from sorting to setting up the new home.

Timeline

A tight move date may need more people or extra days compared with a flexible schedule.

Distance and access

Where the new home is and how easy it is to get to both homes affect the work.

What Changes the Quote?

Every senior transition is different, so we give a quote after seeing the home. These are the main things that affect the price:
